Palletways, the market leader in the overnight distribution of small consignments of palletised freight, is leading the way in the adoption of an innovative new product designed to protect fragile goods.
Palletcap is a lightweight, highly visible cone that sits on top of a pallet containing fragile goods, ensuring drivers and warehouse workers are even more aware they cannot stack freight on top. Palletways is taking delivery of Palletcaps for distribution to its entire 90-plus member network.
One network member, Montgomery Distribution, is keen to provide a full distribution service to include high-risk freight:
“Using this simple and cost-effective device we can enhance the level of confidence in existing or potential customers who have a requirement to distribute fragile goods,” said Gary Diamond, Director and General Manager at Montgomery Distribution. “There is no doubt that Palletcap adds to the existing safeguards protecting this type of traffic and will ensure even higher levels of quality.”
Palletways also sees Palletcap as another way to provide additional quality within its service offering. Group Development Director Craig Hibbert commented:
“We are always looking for ways to improve our service to the customer. Although this may be a belt and braces approach, prevention is better than cure and quality is something we pride ourselves on. Palletcap will help to remove an element of human error and consequently further enhances our high standards when it comes to looking after customers’ goods.”
Palletcap is the invention of Hayley Shirley, Managing Director of Palletcap, who, having worked as a Business Development Manager in the pallet distribution industry for almost a decade, wanted to tackle the industry-wide problem of identifying fragile goods when moving pallets by forklift.
Says Shirley, Managing Director of Palletcap: “Concentrating on the quality issues surrounding such a small percentage of freight movements illustrates Palletways’ attention to detail where quality for all customer sectors is clearly of paramount importance.”
